We, the people, have to make it happen.
Environmentalists, labor, antipoverty and affordable housing advocates, the
peace and justice movements, and business must must unite for positive change.

How the Democrats Control Energy Costs . . .
Step 1. Let the utility monopolies buy State Senate President Emil Jones with campaign contributions
($284,000 in campaign contributions from Commonwealth Edison and its parent company, Exelon, plus $25,000
from Ameren just in October 2006).
Step 2. Let Ameren and Com Ed gouge consumers for $2.3 billion worth of rate increases in 2007 alone.
Step 3. Then convince the utility monopolies to give back $1 billion in so-called “rate relief,” over four
years, call it a victory, and expect consumers and businesses to be grateful.
In other words, they let these highly profitable corporations gouge you, then persuade them to give about 11
percent back. If someone helped a bully rob you of $100, and then got the bully to give you $11 back, are you
supposed to thank them? The Democratic Party leaders in Illinois apparently think so!
Don’t be fooled again! Join the Green Party – a party
that refuses corporate campaign money, a party that stands up for
working people. We are fighting for:
! Real rate relief – first a freeze, then regulation with
teeth.
! Real alternatives – let’s build a statewide public utility
and allow electric co-ops to compete statewide.
! Clean, renewable energy – solar, wind and geothermal
– and energy efficiency.
Remember what happened – and vote Green!
